How We Measure

Loopwheeled cotton is knitted under low tension, so it can shrink slightly on the first wash. Here is how to choose your size and keep the fit.

Our loopwheeled styles are made on original antique loopwheelers. They knit slowly and under very low tension &#x2014; only about a metre of fabric an hour &#x2014; and we deliberately avoid aggressive chemical finishing. That is what gives the cloth its softness, density and character.It also means the fabric behaves differently from standard high-tension knit.<h3 id="it-shrinks-slightly-on-the-first-wash">It shrinks slightly on the first wash</h3>Because the cotton is knitted under low tension, it will shrink a little (about 1 inch / 2.5 cm) the first time it is washed lengthwise. This is normal and part of how our loopwheeled styles settle into shape.<h3 id="choosing-your-size">Choosing your size</h3><ul><li>The Originals (Made in Germany) styles run small &#x2014; size up.</li><li>All other styles run true to size.</li></ul>Compare the measurements under &apos;Form &amp; Fit&apos; on each product page with a shirt you already own.<h3 id="keeping-the-fit">Keeping the fit</h3>Wash cold (max 30&#xB0;C) on a gentle cycle with a maximum spin of 1000 rpm, reshape the garment while damp and air dry it. Avoid the tumble dryer &#x2014; heat is what causes further shrinkage.
